This year (2012)... I'm going crazy.
My resolution, or rather, plan, is to totally and utterly avoid junk food and get super fit! Ive been taking kickboxing for many months now but I want to stop eating crappy foods.

No chips,

frozen dinners/ lunches/ meals,
cake (OHNO),
.... Anything junkie.

I hope I have enough will power to stay strong.
Wish me luck!

(Now Im doing this so I can get fit!! Im not starving myself, just eating healthy!)

Holidays!

I have nothing to post about- so I'll post about Christmas! Yay!

Do you celebrate Christmas? Maybe Hanukkah? Im not sure of any other December-typed Holidays so I do aploigize if I did not say yours but I wish you a happy Holiday! :)

I am looking foreword to Christmas. I know I'm not getting much, but, this year Ive grown up a lot. I really dont want much, I got what I wanted for my birthday, so I think as long as my family is happy on Christmas holidays, that's fine with me.

What I am looking foreword to most, though, is New Year's Eve and Day. That is my Anniversary with my boyfriend, which I am excited to celebrate. I get to spend time with him, but also get to stay away from all the underage booze-parties my *ahem* stupid friends throw. Hooray!

I am excited for not being around sixty odd drunk teenagers because last year, I spent the Countdown to 2011 cleaning up coke and rum off of my friend's floor. This year I dont plan on doing that again!

Either way.
I hope that whatever Holiday you celebrate is a happy one, and that New Years is also wonderful!

Happy Holiday! ^^

BEARPAW Boots- Not Worth It.

For my birthday a month ago, my grandmother bought me a pair of extremely comfortable winter boots from BEARPAW Shoes. These shoes are comfortable, like slippers, warm, keep water out relatively well, and cost about two hundred dollars.

Two weeks into wearing them, the outer side of the shoe's seam ripped wide open. So, I got them replaced in a fit of anger. I'm not joking when I say this, but my new pair that I replaced the broken ones with, just broke. All I do is wear this boots around the school, Im not running up cliffs or anything! It's been SIX days since I replaced these boots and they're already broken again, exact same spot, bigger rip.

These boots are comfortable, but so, so not worth the money you're going to spend. Go to a Wall-Mart or Zellers or Target for a better pair of boots.

There Comes a Point in Time, When...

For the next couple of weeks we have a pair of Guest Artists who have come in to help my class design a structure for my school. And Okay, I understand that sometimes the artists come in have certain rules and regulations but when you come into an art class... People have sketchbooks, and usually will be using pencils, maybe pens.

Not using a pencil, okay, I can understand as well... But when somebody takes my sketchbook away from me is when I get really antsy. To explain, I was showing a friend a design for a dress that I created the other night (as I am an aspiring Fashion designer). No pencil in sight, artists and class doing nothing, I had my sketchbook not only asked to be put away, but when I didnt do it immediately (the friend had it!) the artist took it from me, took my pencil case as well, and placed them on the floor!!

*Angry twitch*

Nobody puts my art on the floor.
Ever.
T.T

That made me lividly, boiling-over angry.
Especially because my sketchbook is such a heavy part of my life.
I use it every day, all the time, from doodles to watercolour painting, to plain pencil sketches and ideas for fashion designs or paintings.

Not letting me use a pencil, babying me, and only letting me use a Crayola marker makes me agitated.
But tossing my artwork book and expensive felt-tip markers to the floor, really makes me mad.

Respect.
Please learn it.

Livid,
The NA.

Scared Myself with Google

I need to research images for a project I am doing concerning war, and how we glorify it when it is actually horrifying.

Needing research more, I turned off the SafeSearch of Google.

Two words;
Decapitated body.

Think Im gonna puke.

This is exactly what I'm trying to display with my piece is exactly this.
We glorify war with video games, news and songs.
But in reality, even a click away, come nightmares and nausea.

I cant even begin to think of trying to experience war for myself....

Feeling ill-

Romance in FanFics

Sometimes when people happen to fall in love with a series, or two characters in a series, they decide to write a 'fanfic'. Which is basically Fan-written fiction. Now, I love writing fan fiction but I draw the line at pairings that are obviously not together.

For example, currently I'm writing a Fiction about Assassin's Creed One.

Before you rip me in half, no, I won't make a stupid pairing.I dont put new characters in romantic situations with existing characters, nor do I put two existing characters into a romantic situation. The idea of Malik and Altair being romantic together is unappealing to me. Im all for gay love, dont get me wrong, but if two characters were not meant to be put together I say dont put them together.

*shrugs*

Maybe Im getting huffy about something small, but Im tired of having FanFics shoved in my face. A friend of mine has written Fics of everything from Manga to Stephen King novels and it creeps me out. Because every single time, the friend takes my favourite character and gets them sexually involved with a new or existing character and I HATE it. They asked if I wanted a Creed story a week ago and I put my foot down with a big fat no.

I dont do crack pairings guys.

So if you were hoping for a commission from me to romantically involve 'Bob' and 'Steve' from whatever show, I wont do it. Sorry guys, but, it bugs me.
There is hope however for you, because if you really want it, we can set up a specific agreement. :)

Love,
The Night Angel.

Earbuds.

I have come to the point of aggravation once again, and this has happened since Grade Nine, that I need to rant about wearing headphones in class.

In the MacLab for Cyberarts, people have a habit of blasting their music for the "enjoyment" of others. Now, if you ask a few of these people to turn the music down, or off, most often they turn it up.

Why cant people use headphones or earbuds or ANYTHING?!
People dont have the same taste in music, and it is incredibly rude to leave your music blasting and leave the room for a good ten minutes.

Rage!!

Please wear earbuds.

R.I.P Voodoo.

Yesterday morning of October 29, 2011, I walked into my room after a shower to find my beloved guinea pig, Voodoo, had passed on.

The night before this he had gotten very sick, wouldnt eat or drink, move... So my mum called me at my boyfriend's house, to let me know Voo looked very ill. I ran home. Normally it takes me about fiteen minutes but I ran as fast as I could, didnt stop even to cough anything up (as Im ill with a bad cold). Three minutes flat, I burst through the door and went right to my pig.

And he seemed pretty okay. After Voo saw he me got wheaking a bit, drank a little, had some apple, nibbled my fingers as usual and moved around a bit. This morning he was awake, a bit wobbly but looked okay.

During my shower, Voodoo passed on.

And I am literally devastated. Earlier this year, after a friend's pet passed, I told my boyfriend how devastated I would be if I lost Voodoo. And my predictions were way off- I feel much worse. Almost empty, emotionless. If Im not being emotionless, Im sobbing my face off.

The poor thing was two weeks from turning two years old. He was so young....

I never felt this way with any other pet, as cruel as that is to say. Voodoo was my best friend. He knew all my scrects, helped me when I was sad, calmed me when I was angry, listened to all my screts.... He was my best friend.

I feel like when I come home tomorrow after errands he'll still be alive. That he'll chrip in his funny little way when we sees me, and nibble my fingers gently like he always loved to do. I think he did it to get the salt off my fingers.
I miss you, Voodoo.
To have seen you so ill yesterday make my heart feel cracked but when I found you today it went cold.
Stilled.
Ill miss you, my beautiful little Guinea Pig.
Ill miss you so much.
Your peanut-butter and black fur.
Your gentle wheeking when you were in my arms.
The nibbles on my fingers whenever I held you..

I'll look after Voodoo's brother for him.
Mr Mann will live a long life for Voo, Ill make sure of it.

Requiescat in pace, Voodoo.
I confess Im gonna miss you.

Dearly depressed.

Found my Camera!!

Deep fried Mars Bar, anyone??

Back in August I lost my beloved camera after uploading my images from FaxExpo2011, and then LOST it! I was devastated, and so very, very sad.

Just now, because Halloween is soon and I LOVE this event, I decided to search for it. After a good horu of looking I decided to check the bag I used for the convention, as it has a reputation for swallowing things.

Guess where I found my camera?

I've been carrying around this purse for MONTHS and never noticed. Though, I am more than happy I never lost it, or it fell out of the pocket on the purse. EEK.

Happy!

Insane Tattoo Video. (MUST SEE.)

This may just be the coolest tattoo video I have ever seen.

If you cannot view it for some reason, the video first asks, "How do you judge a book?" After which, they show a man, white skin and a few piercings. He sits in a chair, and after squirting something onto a pad, scrubs at his chest.

After which, he takes a cloth, squirts more liquid onto that, and rubs at his face. When the man pulls his cloth away, his face is a skeleton's, scary and frightening.

This man is Rick Genest, the world's most tattooed man. He was asked to help advertise a pair of new products, Dermablend's Leg and Body Tattoo Primer and Leg and Body Cover. And the results are terrifyingly amazing what can be done with it.

I feel like a Celebrity!!

Today, I "Googled" (I love how Google became an Adjective.) the two words "Revelations Trickster", trying to find more reference images of the Trickster Multiplayer character from Assassin's Creed Revelations!

And in the first row of images, among with official ones from the game, was my WIP that I posted a week or so ago!!

Lost Mask Blues

There's currently a spat going on between two of my friends.

And I hate when this happens, because, I am always expected to choose sides. Which I really hate doing. I'm not picking sides, I refuse, but i am picking this apart. Because I'm tired of being sworn at and fought over to choose a side. The issue arose about fourty minutes ago and I already want to scream.

The issue is about a lost gas mask, in some kind of rock-punk 'style', with biohazard symbols all over it. It's gone missing, and, while I'm interested in helping to find it, I also... dont care.

I was not around when this mask was lost.

However the suspects who could have taken it, who were around the mask at the time of misplacement, are;
The Owner
The One Who bought it
The Anime Freak
The Two Girls everybody on this list has only met twice
The Boyfriend of the Purchaser of the mask
And two other girls.

The Owner really wants it back, but owes the one who bought it about a hundred dollars. The one who bought it doesnt care about the mask, but would like the anime freak to stop getting pissy about it. Boyfriened of purchaser is probably super angry at anime freak and owner for harassing the purchaser, and the two other girls are snobby little children, but I know they wouldn't steal. They're too bad at lying, anyways.

The two girls that everybody have only met twice? That dont go to my school where the mask was lost?
I dont know much about them, but... doesnt this kind of scream 'We Stole It' ??

Frustrated beyond words,
The Night Angel

Design Process

Design Process is a linear, or straight, sequence of events that has a start and end point. There are many levels of the Design Process, from coming up with an idea, to analyzing it, to researching to the finished, evaluated product. However, it would be much more interesting to do the research sections than most any other parts of the Design Process.

I personally prefer researching things, especially if I was interested in the topic. During research, one needs to find something suitable to the project, which is always an interesting challenge to do correctly. However, the thought of working for hours in a library with books, or at a computer delving through old archives of information is very, very appealing to me, because I love history (Even if the product is not historical, it is still appealing!).

The reason why I find researching so interesting is because of the thought of being able to create a product, paragraph or proposition that nobody else has before is… a bit empowering, making me want to try and strive to do it. Plus, the thrill is the same with any kind of thing one can produce or invent before another. Humans are greedy creatures, so it really is natural you want to accomplish something before another.

Hugs,
The NA.

Sleeping in Class

I long ago learned a very valuable lesson, after my Grade Ten Geography teacher whipped a foam dice at my head during a movie.

Dont sleep in class.

You miss stuff, even if its like, a SUPER boring class, try not to fall asleep.
Especially if you have something due at the end of the period... -.-;
(Not that I'm saying Tech is boring. It and Art are my favourite classes. Ever. )

Im super tired right now but Im blogging, doing the assignment and Im fine.
I'll at least pass!! XD

Dual Self Portrait.

This is a Dual Self Portrait. The task here was to create a portrait composed of two contrasting sides of myself. This good be simply 'good and bad' sides, or something deeper, such as 'the inner unicorn' or something like that, as long as the piece had deep meaning and unity!

We had SO much freedom with this piece, I had no idea where the heck to even try and begin! We had freedom of medium, as well, so it was just mind boggling. Eventually, I settled for a stretched and primed 16" x 20" canvas, and acrylic paint.

After creating too many pages of visual brainstorms, thumbnails and jot notes in my sketchbook, I finally came up with a concept. I would do the person who I am and the person who I wish to be.

In the above photo, you can see a figure of what looks to be a puppet. This is me, currently, the person who I am. And sure enough, she is a puppet! Right now in my life I feel like I am constantly being controlled by strings. Like somebody is pulling me in every direction.

Portraying myself as a puppet came surprisingly easily to my self esteem, actually, and I thought I would absolutely hate myself later on for painting this, but I don't. Because it is a pretty accurate way of how I feel at the moment, and have been feeling like for a long while now. Stitched together, easily able to be picked up and tossed somewhere. Fragile and weak.

This above photo shows the person who I want to be. She is whole, strong, and the apple suggests fertility or wealth. Because, hey, I would love to have a family some day. Money, too, but a family would probably come to me first. (Yay!)

She is wearing lighter colours than her puppet self, so that she is standing out, a shining star against the pale background that my puppet self has seemingly created around her. I found this future self hardest to paint, because I wanted it to look absolutely and utterly perfect, without any stray marks and all smooth edges. However, nothing can be perfect and I love the finished product, especially since I was not gunning for any specific style. (Though I do so love her and the puppet's hair.)

Above is the finished product of my hard labour. I hope you enjoy it! Lately I've been finding I've been trying to gain control of my life, and trying to break free of that puppet-like stitching. We shall see, I suppose, how far I get into my future self!!

Hugs,
The Night Angel.

Jamey Rodemeyer - R.I.P.

How can humans say, so easily, 'go kill yourself'?

I mean, imagine you're upset and all depressed and such. Maybe you dont have to imagine it, maybe you are. Maybe you're sad, and scared, hurt and angry, for whatever reason. And trust me, Ive been there too! But people care for you, beleive it or not, there will always be at least five people who love you. Five supporters, five friends, five shoulders to cry on if something goes wrong.

But, getting back to why I started this post, I cannot see how humans can tell each other to go kill them self. Even 50 Cent, a famous rapper, has said that "if you a man who dont lick p***sy, just kill yourself, damn it. lol." I mean, who does that?!! How can you tell somebody to end their life? What 50 Cent's best friend had seen that, and went and killed him or herself? The rapper makes himself out to be, ahem, a 'badass', but I would imagine he'd be in tears, devastated, if that had happened.

On September 18th, another teen boy, 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, killed himself. He was being bullied because he was openly gay.
In a YouTube video posted in May, Jamey said Lady Gaga had inspired him. “Lady Gaga, she makes me so happy, and she lets me know that I was born this way. And that's my advice to you from her. People are born this way. All you have to do is hold your head up and you'll go far,” he said in the clip. “Just love yourself and you're set … It gets better.”

Jamey's hero and inspiration was none other than Lady Gaga, who is a huge supporter of LGBTQ rights. Before he took his life, Jamey took the time to tweet Lady Gaga to say, “@LadyGaga Bye Mother Monster. Thank you for all you have done. Paws up Forever.”

However, the bullying still has not stopped just because Jamey's life did. His sister Alyssa recently at a dance faced open hostility.
She was having a great time, and all of a sudden a Lady Gaga song came on, and they all started chanting for Jamey, all of his friends,” Jamey's mother said. “Then the bullies that put him into this situation started chanting, 'You're better off dead!' and 'We're glad you're dead!' and things like that.”

How can people be so heartless?!!

What I, personally, suggest, is to talk to somebody. If you're scared, sad, angry, hurt... Just go and talk to somebody. Find one of those five people I spoke of in the beginning of this article and talk to them. Cry to them, do whatever you can but please, get help. Especially if you're being bullied.

If I was not able to convince you out of anything bad, then please, watch this video. I know many probably wont, but for those who do watch it, thank you. Spread the video to everybody you know, because it'll get people thinking, talking, and saving.

Love, hugs, and hope.
The Night Angel.

Sionra - [Mature Content Warning]

Sionra is an artist on Deviantart.com who I have recently come to adore! Their artwork is amazing, and personally, as somebody who has been trying to master human proportions I am jealous and amazed and so happy I discovered Sionra's work!
(Not only human proportions, but so much more. Amazing stuff in their Art Gallery is certain!!)

Gentle Kiss
2010

The above piece is called 'Gentle Kiss', and is part of a personal project Sionra did called 'Hot-Hot November'. It happened in November of 2010, where Sionra "drew one smexy work per day." This link shows the full 'Hot-Hot November Gallery.'

Why I love 'Gentle Kiss' so much is because of the love you can see the two characters, Lynn and Lyrev, have for each other. There is such a sense of passion and sensuality, while not stepping over the boundary of artistic. Also, the way the two approach each other seems natural and the lust on the man's face is clear and distinct. This is why I love Sionra's work, especially the 'Hot-Hot November' project. Is because of the sensual, passionate, lustful work that this artist does.

Composition wise, there's almost an upside down triangle going on. Your eyes are drawn across their faces, and down the middle of the photo where their bodies are touching. The composition of the piece makes it that much more interesting to me, because I personally do not find too many centered images that make me go 'wow'. And 'Gentle Kiss' certainly made me do this!!

If you have a chance, please check out the below links!

Not feeling too well today, its a bit frustrating.
Oh well, haha, I have to deal with it.

For the sixth day of school though, there is a lot of drama going on.

How to Make; Assassin's Creed Cosplay

What I did was take a hoodie, and attach/ sew most everything on the assassin robes to that hoodie. I makes it a lot easier to put everything on when it comes to wearing the costume.

Otherwise, for the stomach sash-y thing, you want to take a strip of fabric that goes 2.5 - 3 times around your waist. It looks better that way when you tie it to let the fabric end pieces hang, too. For the shoulder plates and belt I used paper mache to scuplt into shapes I needed. The arm gauntlets I made of fabric, and unfortunatly I never had time to make a hidden blade.

But that will change!!

Otherwise, you can find leather gloves, boots, and black pants that are pre-made, and cheap, too, if you go to a thrift store. Just remember to wash everything really well when you bring it home before you start cutting and sewing!! (UNLESS, the material is silk, suede, or velvet. Then take it to a dry cleaner. NEVER machine wash silk, suede or velvet!!!)

Below is my Costume! About 89 percent of it was home-made. :)
Which I am proud to admit!!

The only things I did not fully make were the base of the assassin-hoodie, base of the assassin pants, and the boots!

Hope you enjoy!! :D

Cirque Du Soliel; TOTEM

Guess what I saw today? :D
Cirque Du Soliel's show, TOTEM.

It was stunning, amazing, captivating, mesmerising and I cant find any true words to explain how much I LOVED this experience!!!

On the internet I found a video on the Cirque's Youtube page of an interview with a pair of trapeze artists, who did an act called the 'Lovebirds'. This amoung many other acts was what I was excited for but... When I saw the Lovebirds I fell in love with them!

These two artists- Louis-David Simoneau and his partner, Rosalie- have such beautiful body work, and truely look at home on the bar and with each other. Both man and woman were extreamly talented, and after the show I wanted SO badly to see if I could talk with them! Sadly, I could not.

Honestly, I can not describe the feeling of watching the Lovebirds preform. Can not describe the feeling of watching the Cirque Du Soliel. Other than the underrated word 'Stunning'.

My only complaint about the show?
A t-shirt costs twenty dollars more than the ticket to get inside the Grand Chapitou.

Well. That's unfortunate.

So, I emailed three different artists for this summer, to keep you all interested in my blog. My messages were VERY polite...

One told me very harshly to 'F' Off and that I was 'F'ing annoying.

The other is ignoring me, but I can see they got my message.

The other seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. >-<

This makes me so very sad!!
They're all very amazing artists... :(

I wont post who told me to 'F' Off, because I refuse to harm their reputation.
However just a reminder to artists, dont be rude to your fans!! Because a lot of people might not be as keep-quiet as me. XD

Hope you're all having a nice summer!!

Hey, guyyyys!!

I have a few special treats for you this Summer!!
I REALLY hope they work out though!

First, I got my hands on another Nikon DSLR, and managed to get a few friends to do a photo shoot with me. *evil laughter*

Secondly, there's an artist on DeviantART and really, this work is STUNNING. The artist works with needles and flesh sewing, and hopefully they agree to an interview. Not. Giving. Away. Their. Username. ;D

Another thing, I'm going to see the Cirque Du Soliel in a few months! I know they probably dont allow photography, but I'll tell you guys all about it :)

Hopefully these things will keep you here during the summer!!

Stay cool,
The Night Angel.

I Noticed something!

The Blog posts we are assigned for Tech class are supposed to be something we're really interested in, right? So I was just looking back on my posts from this semester and... A lot of the posts are interesting to me but other ones like just me ranting- if I was graded on content for the rants I'd be passing like that *snaps fingers*

I think it is because when I choose something to do a post on, I KNOW it's going to be an 'official' blog post. So it takes the fun out of doing it. Unless I'm super passionate about the subject matter XD

I dont know, just an observation :)

See you later!

Too Excited to Work!!!

I just saw the trailer for Assassin's creed Revelations and it is beautiful. Looks absolutely stunning. The trailer showed Ezio making it to Constantinople, getting captured during a battle and then shown to -who I assume is- a Templar.
All the while through the trailer, Altair (character from AC1) guides Ezio as a ghost.

This.
Is.
SO EXCITING!!!

Please watch the trailer!!! :'D

And I have four culminating assignments due on WEDNESDAY to finish up. I am soooo excited. Too much so to work!! ;-;

Likely to faint with joy,
The Night Angel.

It doesn't make you a PRO!

I was talking with a friend this morning about somebody we both know and have decided that if you take one photography class in high school you have no right to call yourself a professional.
Done and done.
It just doesn't happen that quickly XD

Text Speak Drives Me CRAZY.

If you talk like this;

omg ur so kewl i cnt blve u did tht.

Then please go and take a Literacy course. Please. Text speak is "omg" so frustrating because I find I am TOO smart to understand it all. Mhmm. My sister uses text speak and one word answers to reply to Messages online, over email or on Instant Phone Messaging.

i12cu = I want to see you.
cu l8r k? = See you later, ok?

I had to LOOK THESE UP!!!

The Perfect Shadow by Brent Weeks. ([Blog #20] 06-01-'11)

Perfect Shadow is finally out!! This book is by one of the BEST authors I have ever had the pleasure of being able to read a novel by. He wrote the Night Angel Trilogy (which ironically came out after me making my blog 'Night Angel Ranting'), The Black Prism, and now Prefect Shadow. His new novel is based off of a character in the Night Angel Trilogy called Durzo Blint. Who, well, happens to be my favourite character. So naturally I am going to be getting my hands on the novella that helps NAT readers discover Blint's origins.

This novel is also available on eBooks, iPads, iPhones and other electronic devices. (Which is good news for my blog posts because the fact it is on electronic devices means Wild Card time. MUAHA!)
*Cough* Um, what? :)

Seriously though, I hope you get a change to look at some of Weeks's novels, because he truly has a gift for literature. Really, he's a pretty new author and already quite popular.

Off to a bookstore,
The Night Angel.

Photography!

In class we were given a few digital cameras and told to go outside and find something Edward Burtynsky-ish. Something that showed the relation between nature and industry. While doing this we were also asked to only shoot with Manual shutter speeds, Aperatures and do this all BY HAND.

Having taken a photography class, I was excited to use a camera. However after using the digital, I was at a loss. I knew how to use a film camera, but a digital Nikon set on manual? God help me. Eventually though, over this past weekend I got the hang of the camera. Yay me!

Here is a photo I took of my ring, which is very much so over exposed.

Now, here is one that was under exposed. Also if you happen to see a Guniea Pig in any of these photos, that's because my two little boys (Guinea Pigs, not human sons) were running around my yard.

I am unsure of both of these photo's Shutter and Aperture speeds, however it is visibly changed through both of them. Below is a shot that I finally got right. How I cursed this Nikon after I was finished the photoshoot though...

I hope you can see the difference in the images, and actually prefer the last one to the under and over exposed images. I was quite satisfied with all of my photographs. And for all of those skeptics, no I did not edit these in photoshop and no I did not use an onion skin to get them all to relatively the same point of interest.

Love,
The NA.

PS, here is a photo of my Piggies <3

Mr. Mann is the gold-y brown one, and Voodoo is the one that looks like a peanut butter cup.

Edward Burtynsky!

In class practically a month ago, (sorry folks, I've been swamped with homework!!), we watched a video about Mr Edward Burtynsky. He is a Canadian photographer and artist, best known for his photographs of industrial landscapes. Edward Butynsky was born in Ontario to Ukrainian parents. AT age eleven his father purchased a darkroom. Complete with cameras, instruction manuals and chemicals, this darkroom allowed Burtynsky to learn how to make black and white photographs and prints with his father. All very interesting stuff!

This movie we watched, however was unfortunately very kind of boring. As somebody who learns well with audio and hand-on experiences, the droll music and mind-numbing narrative put me to sleep. Literally! I woke up when about to flop out of my chair and into a wet palate of paint.

However if you can get past the audio, the images were more than fantastic. They were absolutely STUNNING. In an "oh my gosh we're actually doing that to the world?!" sort of stunning.

For me Burtynsky's works are very shocking, and yet almost passionate. Each image holds a specific story, and being one for stories, while I was watching this film about the artist, I was yearning for more time to look at the photos being shown. Not the few seconds they gave the audience.

Hopefully you can get a chance to further explore Edward Burtynsky's work, it is very much so worth checking out!

Love,
A very frustrated Night Angel.

What's up for Tonight?

I happen to be watching Late Night With Jimmy Fallon tonight. While of course writing a few short stories :3
But yeah!
One of my stories is a fan fiction off of Assassin's Creed. Yeah, I know, the acursed fan fiction that all seems to hate but I have no idea why. Hey, I dont make crack pairings like Cesare and Ezio... *shudders*

Look out, its a Rant!!

As you may have noticed, I went to Anime North this past weekend. Fist pump! A fellow blogger of mine also went and seemed to come back with a very negative feeling. My peer was very angry that she was made to go to a weapon's check desk for her plastic swords. She also was angry that a twist tie was placed on her sword, as that deemed it safe.

This post is mostly to adress any misunderstandings for those who may have read her post. At ANime North people try really stupid things. Hide drugs inside their costumes, or plastic swords, hide real weapons inside fake ones and even supidest is try to photocopy a ticket/ pass.

What they do at the weapon check area is make sure that your weapon is indeed fake. They put a red or yellow tie on the weapon and write on your ticket that the weapon passed. You are asked to sign a few waiver forms that say if you harm anybody with them you know you will be kicked out of the con, etc, and have your phototaken to identify you as the owner of the checked weapons. The "fat dweeb" that checks the weapons (see, Im a bit insulted at that because I can fit into that catergory) is just doing his job.

A point made in my peer's post was that they were selling real hand-forged sharp metal blades at the Convention. While this is indeed true, the dont let you leave the booth without the sword being in a box, taped firmly shut. If you are caught with the weapon of the box, your convention pass is revoked and you're kicked out of the convention.

While some see the policies at Anime North as 'stupid', as even I sometimes do, at the end of the day I know that all the volenteers, workers and policy makers are just trying to keep everybody safe, happy and able to have a wonderful experience. Weather you are three or eighty three, I'm sure everybody looks out for everybody else. (Cause even when I was at a photoshoot a young child was participating and an older woman in costume walked over and helped the child have her photos, then let the child go back to her mother.)

Sorry about the rant, I just get frustrated when something as small as a twist tie is able to ruin somebody's day. I wore my costume and had to run my wings through the Weapon's Check desk. They made me sign waivers, made me take off my wig and head acessories and then took a photo of me. As frustrating as it was, I didnt obsess over it and was able to have a really great time.

I hope that everybody who went to the convention this weekend was able to have fun, though.

Love and hugs,

The Night Angel.

My Banner is being EVIL!

My old banner with the angel and my blog title is still up, I promise!! For some reason when I am using Google Chrome it wont show up though.

Drawing Hands!! ([Blog #19] 05-30-'11)

Drawing hands is a pain in the BEHIND. So please, take a look at this! I am reblogging this from a Year 2 student however this single image helped me out immensly (with hours of practice), so I wanted to share!!

New Blog Banner Already?

The possibility of a new blog banner and design is imminent. It will happen, and probably soon. Lately I have has a growing fascination with the Italian Renaissance, so it's likely to be very gold/ red with a masquerade theme. If you happen to despise this kind of change then I do apologize! But right now I have only had pre-made or base images up for banners. And photography by me seems like it would be a delicious change from other's work. Especially since I am an artist!!

I hope to have the new design up by next month!

It will take much planning '-'

Love,
The Night Angel.

Anime North 2011!!

Greg Ayres (Son Goku in Saiyuki) and John Swasey (Huang in Darker Than Black), shall be at Anime North!! I am very pleased!! Darker Than Black is one of my favourite anime series X3

A friend of mine is not coming with me though, and he is an even bigger fan of these two men than I am so he will be VERY jealous!!

Kumiko Watanabe (Shippo in Inuyasha) will also be there. I NEED to meet this woman! I mean... The first anime series I ever fell in love with, AND the cutest character in said series?! :D

Also, anime producer Taku Otsuka, who has worked on Tenchi Muyo, Trigun, Vandread, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star and The Sword of the Stranger, will be at Anime North. I love so many of these movies!!

GRAH.

I am SHAKING I'm so excited for this convention. GRAH >D
I only shake like this when I'm super angry!
So being this excited SCARES ME.

Love, The Night Angel.

Fan Expo Canada 2011!!!

Just now I was running around the Internet and thought I would see if the guest list for Fan Expo 2011 was up yet. I opened the lists and yes, I may have just wet my pants.

Those who I am excited to meet/ see are;

Victor Lucas (Creator / Producer / Host — THE ELECTRIC PLAYGROUND)
Elias Toufexis (Star voice of — DEUS EX:REVOLUTION, MAX STEEL & ASSASSIN’S CREED)
Tom Felton (Draco in Harry Potter feature films)

Okay, so there are a ZILLION more people I want to meet, and the anime list has not even been announced yet. But OHMYGOD. Elias Toufexis and Tom Felton?! BIG dudes, right? And one would think, with my insane obsession with Assassin's Creed I would want to meet Elias first right? AhA! Wrong!

As soon as I get to the Expo in August I am making a BEELINE for Victor Lucas. I must meet this man! I see him every day when I get home and if I'm lucky his show is on before I go to sleep. I wait until "Reviews On The Run" tells me if a movie or game is good before I will buy it or go to the theatre for it. I sound to creepy but Victor... I must meet Mr. Lucas!!! :'D

Then Mr Toufexis, then Mr Felton.

I'm excited for a convention two months away when I have one two days away! EEK. I should go check out this next Convention's guest list.!!

Be back in a few minutes!
For now,
The Night Angel.

My Poor Blog!

Hey there readers!! My poor, abandoned blog is having itself dusted and washed off today.
Cause I'm posting, wewt!

I've been SO busy with this costume and with school.
Both are driving me insane, and it's a bit difficult to balance both.

So, I've decided that because I'm not getting assigned any homework in Anthropology or Media Studies, I will take that allotted homework time and use it to make my costume! CyberARTS right now is doing photography/ painting so it's fun but doesnt come with much homework.

What frustrates me is that in Tech we keep being GIVEN blog post assignments. We watched a- no offense- slightly boring video in class that almost put me to sleep! The music was drab and the narrator's voice was so very non-interesting. So to write about it will be like trying to force me to eat a mushroom. I'll do it but I wont enjoy it XD

That being said, over all the subject matter and images in the video were amazing AND interesting. Just for somebody who likes to be hands-on and learns better with music (like I), it was horribly boring.

Also in Tech with our new photography assignment we are using Shutter Speeds and apertures. I know how to already, so it's a little easy. Just blog posts about the images to come...

So, until I can get this stuff out of the way, nothing incredibly interesting for now. XD

See you later!!
Love, The Night Angel.

Heart Skips a Beat ([Blog #18] 05-18-'11)

Lenka's second video of her song called "Heart Skips a Beat", is not only addicting to watch but really fun! In the video she spends until one minute and thirty four seconds being "operated on", like the classic game called 'Operation'. This game consists of a player attempting to take out and put back in again a specific part of the board's body. Touch the rim of the hole of say, a kidney, and the buzzer buzzes, making you loose that turn. She then is taken off of the table and dances around in stunning choreography.

The setting of this video was VERY limited, as it was done in only two takes. It is VERY visible when the transition between takes is given. The actors in the video do a good job making sure to let you know that each take is consistent. While Lenka is being 'operated' on, the white hands doing the procedure are always clapping, snapping and putting bones and organs into the little slots. My favourite part of the movie is the choreography from 2:26 to 2:40. Beautiful stuff!!

Mostly the camera angles are Medium shots, close ups and long shots. Because of the only two takes 'thing' going on, Lenka has a limited variety of choices to play around with. Other way, in the hospital-like setting it really works well. The transitions could be better, though, between takes. Much smoother, but they kept to the no-special effects that goes on.

There really isn't a specific target audience that Lenka is going for. The song deals with, as the lyrics give away, love. The lyrics are of a girl who is deciding weather or not to accept a man's love. So that being said, perhaps the target audience is young adults...?

I love this song quite an amount but it isn't what really catches me. The music video is what I love best, and that is solely for the reason of choreography. It is simple and yet displays Lenka as a cute, and very bouncy individual!

Love and Hugs,
The NA

Media Studies

So.... I'm in Media Studies right now...
It is SO frustrating because the one unit I want to do well in is slowly messing me over.
Music is a really huge passion of mine and the one time we get to review a music video... *rage*

An Album Review (Rise Against- Endgame) ([Blog #17] 05-18-'11)

A favourite group of mine, Rise Against, recently released a new album that was titled 'Endgame'. This Album is the sixth studio release by the punk-rock band, and was produced by Bill Stevenson. The finished Album was completed for international release by January 2011, and after some final touches was then ready for the world on March 11, 2011. And to date, Endgame has stayed at the number one Canadian, German, and UK Album Lists for many weeks.

The album deals with "the end of humankind as we know it," with lyrics that address world events including Hurricane Katrina (Help Is On The Way), recent LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Queer) teen suicides (Make It Stop), and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. According to lead vocal and guitarist, Tim McIlrath, "although the lyrics discuss grim topics, they actually take on a positive view and were written from the perspective of, 'What if the place on the other [side] of this transition is [a] place we'd all rather be living in?'".

The seventh track, "Survivor Guilt" is one of my favourites. The first approximately thirty-four seconds of this song features dialogue from the film Catch-22, and it really makes you think for a moment. The dialogue basically states that America thinks they will never be destroyed, even though "all great countries are destroyed".

My favourite song is seriously hard to place. Really, it is horrendously difficult. "Help Is On The Way", "Make It Stop", "Satellite" and "Wait For Me" are all tied. But I am not joking when I say this is probably one of the toughest decisions to make. So, I shall not make one.

I recommend this Album so much that it is painful. The lyrics are very powerful, and making you really stop and think about what is going on in the world. If one song sticks out for any reason, it would be "Make It Stop", or also titled, "September's Children". This is about all of the LGBTQ children who committed suicide in September of 2010. The song, when I first heard it, made me cry. It is very powerful, and being part of the LGBTQ community makes it even more so powerful. At the time of 3:03 in the song, a voice speaks the names of Tyler Clementi (age 18), Billy Lucas (age 15), Harrison Chase Brown (age 15), Cody J. Barker (age 17), and Seth Walsh (age 13).

I keep making this sound as if I'm ending the reading but there is so much more to say! However I shall end now, by saying that you need to listen to this CD. And also, that you need to watch what you say in this world. You never know who could be listening. And who you could be hurting.

Love,
The Night Angel.

Must Resist Urge.. To...

I am awesome. Well, cosplay-wise I am. Otherwise, for example, Heaven forbid, you need me to climb a tree... Don't expect much from me. No really... Unless it's a straight shot up with a couple handholds, there's no chance of me scaling a straight tree.

ANYWAY.

I figured out how to make my fold able wings. Ha ha ha ha. Ha. Ha... *deep sigh* I am slowly going insane.
After raiding all the closets in my home, I came out with about... seven metal coat hangers. Metal or copper, however Im putting my bet on metal.

I took two for each wing, bent and twisted them into shape, and voila! I had two separately attached winglets. They are... a little adorable. I will be attaching them to my back with similar wire, but will be coating this wire (which will be going/ looping under my breasts and around my neck. Ouch.), with a spongy kind of material, or fabric. Preferably sponge...

Anyway, last night I was going to being on making the attachment for my back. However as I was using the Vice Grips/ Pliers/ whatever you want to call them... I sliced a chunk out of my finger. It cant exactly be stitched... Cause, well, there's nothing TO stitch together. Gonna wait for it to heal XD

Tonight I plan on making the back attachments for these silly wings. The plan is to make them flexible enough to bend through crowds, firm enough to stand up to wind and then also loose enough to bounce as I run around!! (*giggles happily*)

After the finished frame, I shall add black stockings to the frame... And then will shout an even BIGGER voila!

Wish me luck the flipping wire doesn't rip the stockings!!
Love, The Night Angel.

Foldable Wings!!?

Anybody know how to make fold able demon-esque wings without visible joints...?

IE, these wings below?
I need them to be able to expand and then become compact or folded in so I can walk around the dealer's room/ convention comfortably without murdering anybody with the wings.

Know how to make them?
Give me a shout!

Assassin's Creed Revelations ([Blog #16] 05-09-'11)

Assassin's Creed Revelations is soon to come to consoles in 2011!!
I'm feeling... ARTSY!

The Creed series always gets my brain pumping about not only what it could be about but also how I can design my own characters! I usually take the setting, date and area of the game and transform that into a brand new character designed by my own beautiful brain...

Ezio though, as this is the last game of his story, looks like he's wearing the same kind of cloth he wore in all the other games. Some more decorative cloth would be good, to suit the city of Constantinople.

Hopefully it'll be a great game!! :D

Art. ([Blog #15] 05-02-'11)

I want to see what you get from this. I'm not going to explain myself because if I need huge walls of text in order to do so then I really have not done a good enough job in creating this image.

The Quote, if you cannot see it is "Art cannot become a masterpiece if you force it through a straw." That quote there is copyrighted to me you best darn believe it!
Aren't I so smart, creating songs a poetry on the spot but it takes me five days to think up a quote.

Uegh.

Anyway, even if you have no idea what I'm trying to show, I hope you still enjoy my artwork that I did while in the Shazaam! program with CyberARTS. This'll be in the newspaper, so if you see it then let me know, I'm super excited!

(Canadian and local newspaper, but still ;3 )

Hope you enjoy my tea!

This Is Why I Need a Job

My number one goal about getting a job, is to raise enough money for this.
The Nikon D3100 DSLR.

This thing is awesome. It shoots stunning photography, video quality, and so So SOOO much more. The camera costs a frightening $699.95 or MORE.
Lol, I need a freaking job!! XD

Anyway, I swear that while I complain about jobs and pine over the D3100 I'm doing something productive. I do so believe in asking artists for their permission to post images (of course if they dont respond in twelve months I assume they have died, as cruel as that sounds).

I just emailed a photographer who's work I am utterly in LOVE with. His work is just breathtaking, and I hope so very much that he lets me use his images. I'm always so scared to receive emails back but I love reading that I have permission from the artists. Not only is it professional to do this but also it makes me feel good about not having to worry about angering those I look up too!!

Seriously though, want to hire me?

"The Sky is The Limit"

Today I heard this quote many, many times. And while I heard this, I remembered another quote by an unremembered human being. "Don't tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon."

I personally hate being confined in something. Hate with huge capitol letters, and I even feel trapped sitting where I am now, here at this desk. I have nowhere to go, nothing to do. So if I want to daydream, I can daydream my way to the moon. If I want to visit Pluto one day, then don't tell me the sky is the limit.

So don't see yourself as having only the sky as your limit, because there is only so much sky, you know? Go an put yourself on the moon, or on Mars, or even Pluto!

At least try.

Online Graphic Designers ([Blog #14] 04-27-'11)

There are many freelance graphic designers that would make you custom graphics online. Choosing the right one for your custom design is not such a difficult task as one might think.

Things to remember when requesting or receiving the services of an onilne graphic designer:

1.Request a portfolio.
2. Ask about turnaround time.
3. Be sure that they can deliver the file formats that you need.
4. Ask about pricing and hourly design rates.
5. Ask about methods of payment.
6. Know what you want
7. Provide a proper description, with colour preferences or examples of designs that you like.

It might seem simple, but these are things to consider when you acquire a graphic designer. It may be hard finding one at first but hopefully you can find a trustworthy designer!

Good luck finding!!

Castello de Saint Angelo Drawing

The Castello de Saint Angelo and it's bridge are two of the most DETAILED and FRUSTRATING things I might have ever drawn.

So much detail, bricks my brick by rafter by scaffolding by angel statue.

My frustration with this thing is growing, especially because I have been working on it for three days! Saturday, Sunday and Monday. If you count today in the morning then three and a half but...

I can do it!

I know I can O.O

Small pets, big losses. :(

First off, I would like to state that loosing a pet really is like loosing a family member. The worst part is that when you purchase or adopt the pet you know that one day you will have to suffer the loss of this beautiful animal someday.

Many years ago, I would say three or two, my cat Daisy passed away in my arms on the way to the vet's. My sister and I were horrendously devastated at the loss, but because it was literally nine days before my sister's birthday, to help her cope she purchased a hamster.

This little guy was titled Squirrmy Pinacolada Coconut Shmurf. Yep, his full name. Little hamster, not sure what breed, but he was a yellowish almost pale gold, browny ears and had the cutest personality. Feisty, determined but seriously an adorable little trooper.

After a weekend at my dad's, my sister and I came home to see that the little guy had passed on.

I know the horror of having to loose an animal, as I have helped raise all of the animals who have come into the house since three awesome cats. Four hamsters, three guinea pigs, totaling four cats and a dog. Very thankfully, two guinea pigs and the dog are still with me.

It really is horrible having to say goodbye to such a dear friend of this house, and everybody really did love Squirmy. He made friends with everybody, and it will be sad having to break the news to a few people who loved him, and don't know about this blog.

However, recently we adopted a new Guinea Pig. My sister and I called him Mr. Mann.
In my heart I believe that Squirmy stayed around - he was very sick and very thin for a long time - to make sure that Mr. Mann rested into the family nicely, and could make my sister happy.

In addition to this depressing post, my Aunt's cat Sydney also passed away last Monday. He was as old as I am now, 16, and was born around when I was. It really is sad. Sydney was loved so, SO much by my aunt. He was really just... Just an amazing cat. So kind, so gentle. He was always wanting to say hi, unless you tried to pick him up of course but everybody dislikes something, you know? Thats okay...

Rest in peace, my friends. We really will miss you, but I am sure you've had good lives. <3

Love,
Haley.

Assassin's Creed Cosplay; How fast can I get this done?

So in a month (EEK) there is an upcoming convention. For this convention, not only must I apply for a job in order to get mum to buy my ticket for me (anybody want my writing skills?) but I also have no idea how to get my cosplay (or, costume play) in time. Originally I was going to be, like, eighty different things. But now I would like to be my own character.

She is based off of Assassin's creed, so yes a fan character, and has the rank of Maestro in the brotherhood. I found a few pictures of how other assassins look and even a woman who cosplayed an outfit from one of the ranks!

Now, my assassin girl looks more like the image a paragraph below this one, and though that is not my artwork the basic concept is there, except she is female and has a light blue sash instead of a red one. Go assassins who stick out like sore thumbs!! (XD)

The outfit should not be too hard, and if I cannot get this done in time then I have until August- another convention- to get it done, perfected and ready to withstand many years of usage.

I love Assassin's Creed!! :'D

The sad thing is, is that I have to make my own costume, while also helping one friend make all three of hers, make my boyfriend's, and also make my other friend's costume.

Wish me luck!! ;-;

Shugo Chara ([Blog #13] 04-19-'11)

At first glance, her classmates refer to Amu Hinamori as "cool and spicy" and rumors speculate about her personal life. However, her real personality is that of a very shy girl who has trouble showing her true personality.
One night, Amu wishes for the courage to show her "would-be" self, and the next morning finds three brightly colored eggs— red, blue, and green— in her bed.
At first, she is alarmed, but realizes she must have really wished to change. These eggs hatch into three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su. The Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams.

Now, I've been watching this Anime for a long, LONG time now.
But after I had began it I started thinking, "What if I have a Guardian Chara just waiting to come out?"

In the next little while I will be hopefully designing my own little chara. Even if they aren't real, you can always use an imaginary friend, right? :)

Dangerous And Deadly Miniature Weapons ([Blog #12] 04-19-'11)

This is about a Youtuber that goes by the name of 43287633, who has made many miniature pieces of very deadly weapons.

For example, a Miniature Crossbow.

I built it entirely out of solid sterling silver and 22k gold (except the bow itself and the string which are made of steel).
It is all handmade and is an original design.
Although it is intended as a high-quality jewelry piece, it functions quite well as a miniature weapon and is able to inflict significant damage.

This miniature crossbow works in exactly the same way as the common full-size hunting crossbow, but in terms of power to weight ratio, the mini crossbow is almost 4X stronger.

It took me many hours and countless experiments to build and perfect this mini-crossbow and its arrows. Every part was tested and modified countless times until the optimal technical and ergonomic level was reached, as well as becoming a thing of beauty.
The mini-crossbow was much harder to build than the mini-cannon which appears in my previous videos.

This is one of the world's smallest crossbows.

This is such a cool piece!! This cross bow can also fire three types of handmade aluminum arrows:
1. Basic (steel-tipped) arrows
2. Ramming arrows
3. Flare arrows

I would be running from this man if he had one of these anywhere near me. It can fire at almost 6 lbs of pressure off of a single steel string!! The range he fires this crossbow from desk to doorway is about 5 meters, or 16.4 feet.

Run for the hills!!
